the ELISON project is an non profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing financial grants for the purpose of assisting in the adoptions of special needs children from China.

The exact number of children orphaned in China is unknown, but regardless of the number, we know that thousands of children are without parents. The members of the ELISON project are of the opinion that the best place for a child is in a loving home. We believe that EVERY child has the right to be loved and nurtured in a family. Even the best institutions and orphanages are under staffed and under funded with many of them unable to provide even the most basic needs for children. Children with special needs such as deafness, or blindness are the least likely to find homes.

Our foundation was created with the hope of encouraging potential parents to consider bringing a child with special needs into their family. The cost of adoption is substantial and often the process can be overwhelming. It is our goal to help ease the financial burden on families and to educate parents about the joys and rewards of parenting a child with special needs.

The vast number of children needing homes makes it a challenge for any child to find his or her family, but once a child is labeled as having a special need it becomes increasingly more difficult for agencies to find families for these precious children. We believe that the label is just that…a label. We believe that each child brings with it special and unique parenting challenges, but we also believe that children with special needs bring unique and special joys.

As our foundation grows, we plan to fund medical teams to travel to China, to develop comprehensive programs to educate families on the different special needs affecting the children in China, as well as partnering with other agencies already working in China.
